UV Radiation Machine

5-7th grade students were moved by the front-line workers in their community and wanted to help solve problems that emerged during COVID-19. They decided to cover waste created by the overuse of disposable masks in their community. These students developed a UV Radiation Machine using the process of design thinking that could clean the surface of masks to extend the life-span of medical masks. Prototypes such as the one below were set up throughout their school and the number of masks being used was reduced in their town.
